Stellwagen Bank National
Marine Sanctuary is made of a shallow submarine platform formed by receding
glaciers about 18,000 years ago. Located 25 miles east of Boston, it
spans an area of 842 square miles. This area is protected to allow whales
to feed. In addition to humpback and Minke whales, you may also see
White-Sided dolphins, Bluefin Tuna, and Northern Lobster in the Stellwagen
Bank area. |

Camera, glasses, sunscreen,
extra film, and rubber-soled footwear. Since it can be cooler at sea,
we suggest warm clothing. |
On board you will find professional
marine biologists as naturalists. Our naturalists are one of the major
contributors to national and international research programs. You will
find their knowledge of whales and other marine wildlife extremely enjoyable.
